Affordable, secure housing is just around the corner

Chronically ill people are among the most vulnerable in the homeless population. They are more likely to hospitalized. They also have high rates of behavioral health problems, including mental illness and substance abuse disorders, conditions that may be exacerbated by physical illness, injury or trauma.*

There is clearly a compelling case for providing housing to individuals of struggling with illness and poverty.

At Cascade, we do just that.

The Cascade Housing Foundation assesses a client’s current situation and refers them into appropriate housing that meets their unique needs. Based in Capitol Hill, Cascade partners with non-profit and for-profit owners of secure, affordable housing. We do not own housing units.

Through this partnership, housing providers benefit in many ways:

  • Cascade refers eligible clients to units within their properties;

  • Cascade provides case management services and connections to medical care for each client referred to a dedicated unit;

  • Cascade administers rent subsidies to keep the operations of our housing partners running smoothly.

Emergency, Transitional, and Permanent Housing
Depending on the unique situation of the individual, Cascade offers three different housing options: emergency, transitional, and permanent, for clients. All individuals must meet the following eligibility requirements for the program.

  • Applicant must be homeless or rent burdened (meaning, must be paying 50% of their income towards rent)

  • Must be living in King, Island or Snohomish County

  • Must be living at 50% below Average Median Income  ($30,000 - $50,000 per year depending on family size)
